A lady came to meet me. She was Sinhala Buddhist lady who embrace Islam. Her Husband is a Malay Muslim. After she gave birth to two children this husband had left her and eloped/ran away with another woman. When I met her son was 17 years working in a Muslim boutique. But this lady didn’t have a place to keep her 11 year old daughter. Many Muslims were willing to take this girl for work as a servant. But no one was willing to give this girl accommodation and an education. Continue Reading »

I mailed this story some months ago. Fathima Rukaiya Beebee is a 34 years old lady from Kalpitiya (Puttlam District). She was born to a very poor Muslim family. Their Islamic knowledge was also very poor. So she eloped/ran away with a Buddhist guy at a young age. She now has three children. We visited her and told them about Islam. She is willing to come back to Islam but the her husband doesn’t want to embrace. Continue Reading »

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
There are two revert children we enrolled in a Hiflul Quran Madrasa. The fathers of both these children are non-Muslims and have given up these children. Now Dawah Corner has taken on the responsibility of looking after them. We need to buy clothes for them to celebrate this Ramadan Eid-ul-Fitr festival happily.

Believing that every single thing belongs to Allah (nothing is ours though we claim so), and wealth is therefore held by us is a trust is one of the most important principles of Islam.
The word Zakah means ‘purification’ and ‘growth’. In other words, our wealth is purified by setting aside a part of it for those in need. This is similar to pruning of a plant. The wealth is purified and grown by cutting back the balances. Continue Reading »

Da’wah through Ifthaar – Let us spread the word of Allah in this Blessed Month
People’s interest in Islam increases in Ramadan. Ramadan is a great opportunity to share Islam and more specifically, its values of spirituality, generosity and kindness with others, especially the non Muslims. It is a great time to do Da’wah. And Da’wah is very much needed in the current atmosphere where there is a great need for reconciliation among the faiths. Continue Reading »

Charity in Ramadan – Dry ration distribution 2010
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam, Assalamu Alaikum Warahmathullah,
Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:“If the mountain of Uhud were turned into gold for me, I would not like three nights to pass and one dinar still be left with me, excepting what I would leave for paying my debts” meaning, he would not rest until his money was spent in Allah’s cause.
DA’WAH CORNER’s Dry ration distribution charity targets the poor and the needy among both the Reverts and the Muslims. Last year Allah helped us to distribute 51 packs, Alhamdulillah. But this year, Insha Allah, the target quantity will be more than 1000. Continue Reading »

Ramadan Is Around The Corner
When Messenger of Allah sighted the moon of Rajab, he used to pray to Allah in the following words:
O Allah, make the months of Rajab and Sha’ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadan (i.e. prolong our life up to Ramadan, so that we may benefit from its merits and blessings). Continue Reading »

My early days as a new Muslim was filled with sheer guilt and sadness when I think of what I can do or done for my new found faith. We were passionate to take Islam to others, tell others how happy and content we are. But we lacked means, freedom and support to carry out this noble duty. But things have changed now. Alhamdulillaah, Allah has helped us to make this difference. We have grown stronger, more skilled and capable. The question now is what we CAN’T do for the sake of Islam. This indeed is a blessed accomplishment. Continue Reading »

Question: I would like you to give me your opinion about the issues and challenges in Islamic missionary work today.
Answer: Your question is very general and I’m not sure exactly what you’re looking for. First of all, we Muslims do not usually use the words “missionary” or “missionary work” to refer to a da`i andda`wah. We prefer to keep our own Islamic terms, which come from the verb meaning to call or invite. Continue Reading »
