I mailed this story some months ago. Fathima Rukaiya Beebee is a 34 years old lady from Kalpitiya (Puttlam District). She was born to a very poor Muslim family. Their Islamic knowledge was also very poor. So she eloped/ran away with a Buddhist guy at a young age. She now has three children. We visited her and told them about Islam. She is willing to come back to Islam but the her husband doesn’t want to embrace.
But they both agreed to let their two eldest children become Muslims. I sent you all a appeal to help us take the responsibility of these two children. With your support I was able to bring these children to the folds of Islam.
When I went to distribute dry rations this Ramadan I met this lady. I asked her why they are not coming to Islam. She said she is very willing but her husband still doesn’t like to come to Islam. So I invited her to leave her husband and come to Islam. She agreed. But the problem is if she gives up her husband, she has to leave her neighborhood and move to a Muslim area. Also she has a small son to take care.
You all know Dawah Corner bought a piece of land in Kalpitiya to give to people like this. Currently in this land we have made a temporary shelter and settled one revert family. We can settle another five revert families in this piece of land. So if we are to settle this lady in this land we have to make a temporary shelter for her. (Sometimes due to this her husband may change his mind and come to Islam)
Making a temporary shelter means a making a 20 by 10 feet hut out of coconut leaves and rafters with a cement floor. Making a hut like this will cost around 25,000 Sri Lankan rupees.
