Frequently Asked Questions

What is DA’WAH CORNER?

DA’WAH CORNER is a not-for-profit organization which was established in 2009 with the noble objective to help people find a personal relationship with All Mighty God, which comes through knowing Islam and taking Islam as our complete way of life.

DA’WAH CORNER with its humble beginning, shares the mission, as Allah, says in His Noble Quran:

“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is (rightly) guided.” (Noble Quran 16:125)

In order to understand the reason behind establishing DA’WAH CORNER, let us see some statistical details about Sri Lanka:

Da’wah History in Sri Lanka: Muslims in Sri Lanka has a presence of more than 1000 years. It is believed that Islam was introduced in Sri Lanka through Arab traders marrying local women. Though the Muslims have coexisted for centuries with harmony and mutual understanding, it is clear that the impact they made towards non Muslims in terms of Da’wah is less, if not non existent. Comparing to countries like Malaysia and Indonesia (where Islam reached in the same period as in Sri Lanka), the Sri Lankan Muslims have not made any significant contribution in taking Islam to non Muslims.

When analysing the current condition of Da’wah in Sri Lanka, it becomes clear it is still in its infancy. Many organizations, despite their sincere intentions, fall short in this regard mainly because of their total emphasis is on Da’wah among Muslims rather than non Muslims.

We strongly believe that Islam as the universal message to Mankind, should reach every corner of the earth. This is the reason why Allah sent many messengers to every generation since the beginning of humankind. Our Prophet Muhammad, being the final Prophet of Allah and Seal of All Prophets also came for this noble purpose. His work of Da’wah will continue until the last day.

If you do not go forth, He will punish you with a painful punishment and will replace you with another people, and you will not harm Him at all. And Allah is over all things competent (Noble Qur’an, 9:39)

As Sri Lankan Muslim Da’ees, we are confident that we can do this noble duty in the most effective of ways using our available resources and innovative Da’wah techniques.

Who is Brother ANVER MANATUNGA?

Brother Anver Manatunga, a revert brother, who is the chair person of DA’WAH CORNER is also a writer, preacher, counsellor and trainer. Before embracing Islam, brother Anver was trained by missionaries to preach Christianity. Now he uses his acquired skills for calling people to Islam.

Under what movement does DA’WAH CORNER operate?

We are a movement free organization where anyone (who is interested in non Muslim da’wah) from any movement/organization can come and work with us to promote Islam to non Muslims provided those da’wah workers do not use DA’WAH CORNER as a platform to promote or execute their respective movement’s personal agenda. This organization is being established based on the noble precept that a Muslim is a brother to another Muslim and not to create further division in the Muslim society.

“…of those who have divided their religion and became sects, every faction rejoicing in what it has (Noble Qur’an 30:32)

Who finances DA’WAH CORNER?

DA’WAH CORNER gets its funding through donors who are Sri Lankan Muslims living abroad and foreign nationals who are in favour and are concerned about Non Muslim Da’wah in Sri Lanka. Additionally there are local Muslims who help us in various ways.
